Hello! My name is Taru and I am glad to serve as the Co-President of AMWHO Tech this year. I am a third-year microbiology major with an interest in global health. I attended my first AMWHO event as a CNN media representative at an International Conference at Emory University. I enjoyed exploring public health issues around the world and the unique challenges every region faces. This is what drove me to found an AMWHO chapter at Texas Tech University. Outside of school, I like playing tennis, writing, reading, skating, riding my bike, listening to music (I've been literally obsessed with Igor since it came out and still listen to it all the time), and watching fancy, cinematic movies I barely understand.
CloseHi, I’m Jad Zeitouni and I will be serving as the Co-President of AMWHO Tech. I am a junior Accounting major on the Pre-Med track. I am interested in Refugee Health and Global Health. Being a part of this organization has opened up opportunities to explore global health, strategy, issues, and reform. It has allowed my colleagues and me to pursue this important and interesting passion. In my free time I enjoy painting and watching movies!
CloseHi, I'm Andrea Perez and I'm serving as the Vice President of AMWHO Tech. I am a junior Microbiology major, and I am in the pre-med track to become an internal medicine doctor someday. I lived in Chihuahua City, Mexico (4 hours away from the U.S. border) for 15 years and then came to the United States to continue my education. I love to dance salsa, sing and hang out with friends. My favorite part about AMWHO is that it brings together different cultures and issues from around the world that are relevant to everyone since it affects us one way or another. It is amazing how students from completely different tracks and majors come together to discuss public health because it shows they care about matters outside their comfort zone.
CloseHello! My name is Sheeba and it’s my pleasure to be the treasurer of AMWHO Tech this year! I am currently a junior majoring in Nutrition and have a passion for medical policy and awareness. Though I have always been curious about global health, it wasn’t until I attended last year’s regional AMWHO conference that I decided to personally get involved. As a result, I joined my fellow officers to help establish the AMWHO Tech Chapter at Texas Tech University. In my free time, I love to bake desserts, spend time with family and friends, and listen indie music!
CloseHi everyone, my name is Creighton Galyean and I have the honor of serving as the AMWHO Tech Secretary! Here at Texas Tech, I am a Junior Biology major involved in President's Select, GSA, and some may recognize me as an SI for General Chemistry II! AMWHO is special to me because I want to go into the medical field but I've always had a passion for government and foreign policy. In high school, I competed in Model UN, in which I was head delegate and my focus was on the WHO. I am excited to meet you all and work with you this semester!
CloseHey! I am Blake Tuazon and I will be serving as the Chief Publicity Officer for AMWHO Texas Tech. I am a third year Kinesiology major following a pre-med track. I have always had an interest in global health, but had never really pursued this interest until joining AMWHO. AMWHO provides a great opportunity to learn more about the various issues our world faces and how policies concerning these issues are implemented. I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I enjoy playing basketball, hanging with friends, watching movies, and cooking!
